Train Game now has HDD installer!

After feedback, I've been scratching my head for most of last week wondering why my game(s) are suddenly not working for some people. All of my software works on a stock WB 3.0 or 3.1 installation, but some people have fancy installs, and this can mess up the loading of the games. It turned out to be a setpatch error. Apparently, CanDo 3 wants a specific version of setpatch, and anything over or under this specific version causes the games to not load.

So in an attempt to pin down the bugs, I made a dedicated HDD installer. At the moment it is dedicated to just my train game. It will install the fonts and check them. It will copy the 4 libraries the game needs to Libs: (including Translator.library), and also checks that Narrator.device is in devs. These final checks were missing from HAMmurabi, which is why most players did not hear any speech in the speech mode!

While in Devs, the installer will point out if the PicassoIV monitor is installed, as this causes the game to freeze. Also remove any RTG monitors like Cybergraphics if you have any problems. The games work on a stock PAL screen mode, and any other screen modes in Devs:monitors will screw it up.  If PicassoIV is not detected, then a general warning will appear to tell the user about this issue, without doing anything about it.

Lastly,  the installer will report the version of Setpatch. If the version is not the version CanDo needs, it will report the error. The software does not copy or overwrite your existing setpatch in this case, as doing so might permanently mess up Workbench. The installer will just report the error, and do nothing. The correct setpatch can be found in 'C' in the pack, so maybe just boot your Amiga without startup, and run THIS setpatch first (then Loadwb, endcli, etc).  This bug mostly only affects WB 3.2 users, and I have no idea if running the correct setpatch will work, as I dont have Kickstart 3.2 to test it.  (I tried to buy and download KS3.2, but I cant seem to find where to buy it digitally?)

Anyway, long story short, I made an installer and I hope it works???  if you can BOOT from the HDF, it means you can keep the game separate from your normal HDD, and this saves 500mb of disk space, but it also means all of the installation issues above can be Avoided!
