A downloadable game

Here is my port of the classic game, for the SOL 20 computer. The SOL got its own variation, called Kingdom, and version 2.0 of Hammurabi (with the randomiser), but not the original V1.0 Hammurabi as far as I could see.

This port was made 18th May 2019, then I typed it all out from the 101 BASIC Games book, so there may be some mistakes.

The file is just a normal ASCII .TXT file, so you can load it up and change it in Notepad. Or any ASCII text editor.

Install instructions

If you have a PC, find the SOL 20 Emulator. I used SOLACE 3.2 from 2006. Here are the instructions for SOLACE:

1. Click File from the menu and choose Load Program
2. Choose "extbasic.ent".
3. Type "EX 0" (without quotes). Basic will now load.
4. Press Enter, and then N.
5. Return to the top menu and choose Run Script
6. Show All Files. Select your .ECB file. This will now load into Basic.
7. Type "RUN"

If all goes well, you will see the image of the game loaded.

Interesting compute history there. Thank you for the game! Thinking, thinking … Defender of the Crown on a SOL-20 … possible, no? Is mostly texts with occasional blocky glyphs for castles, jousting scene a ‘technical concern,’ LOL.

Not sure I would have the skills or the time to make a SOL 20 ASCII version of DOTC. But I guess it could be done. Same with King of Chicago.

I believe you have the skill to do anything actually. We all do! King of Chicago is awesome.
